The Flying W Ranch
On Monday we travel back in time to the Flying W ranch in Colorado Springs. We’ll walk the authentic Western town, enjoy treats at an original soda shop, belly up to a 100 year-old bar and wander through the shops. The blacksmith will be at work demonstrating how to “change the tires” on the old west’s original hybrid transportation. Our delicious dinner will be prepared Colorado “chuck wagon” style. Musical entertainment will be provided by the world famous Flying W Wranglers. This is Colorado at its best. \
Word is that Snidely Sidelobe may be “holed up” at the Flying W. Mr. AMTA is looking for some deputies to help save Penelope. Come and be part of the posse!

Tuesday Student Day
AMTA will host its fifth annual Student Day
We will present a brief set of tutorials geared towards senior level college students, followed by a tour of the exhibit hall and the student session of technical papers. We will also have recruiter table tops available for companies that are not exhibitors, but are interested in meeting with students between 4 and 6 pm (Recruiters must have had at least one AMTA member in your organization in 2010 and 2011 to be eligible). Flags will be freely available to all exhibitors at their booths to identify if they currently are hiring. A recruiter table for non-exhibitors will be $250. Please contact Three Dimensions at (714) 540-8638 if you would like to sign up for a recruiter table top or have a flag provided. Dinner will be provided for all AMTA 2011 and student attendees in a relaxed social setting, followed by a panel discussion. The student program is complimentary to all students who register to attend. Transportation will be provided to and from Universities. AMTA Members wishing to act as Student Day tour guides are encouraged to sign up at the on-site registration desk.

Pike’s Peak Cog Railway
This year’s technical tour includes a ride on the Pike’s Peak Cog Railway to the top of Pike’s Peak (over 14,000 feet elevation) and a tour of the shop, where the equipment is run and maintained. On a clear day it is possible to see over 100 miles to the eastern plains of Colorado.
The view from the top of Pike’s Peak inspired Katharine Lee Bates to write “America the Beautiful.”
